Javor Frajkor - Principal Tuba

Javor studied tuba under Nick Atkinson, tubist (ret.) of the NAC Orchestra, and also enjoys playing the euphonium. He has played in a number of Ottawa-based ensembles, notably the Governor General’s Footguards Band, The Band of the Ceremonial Guard, the Rialto Rhythm Revelers (a 1920s jazz band), and Tubalation, a tuba quartet that he founded and led.

In 1994-95, Javor was attached to a Regular Force Band touring Europe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Liberation.

He's currently playing with The Polished Brass, a very busy brass quintet in the National Capital area, and relishing the opportunities to play orchestral repertoire with both the Parkdale and Kanata symphonies.

In his daytime profession, Javor handles other heavy objects as a heritage stonemason. He enjoys root beer, white water adventures, hot air ballooning and baking.
